Experience Our Area

Ilkley lies in picturesque Wharfedale on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. Ilkley is the starting point of the Dales Way Footpath to Windermere which passes a few short strides from the CL..
We recommend a hike to Ilkley's Cow and Calf Rocks for a spectacular view of the surrounding area. Visitors shouldn't miss out on the famous Grove shopping street with the much feted Betty's Tea Rooms or maybe a gourmet lunch or dinner at the renowned Box Tree Restaurant.

In summer months, Ilkley's open air Lido and swimming pool are the perfect places to cool down after a hot day.

Things to See and Do

Located within a few miles of the site are a number of other great visitor attractions including the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway, the Duke of Devonshire's Bolton Abbey Estate, and Skipton Castle.
Guests should also visit as many of the nearby popular tourist towns as possible. Haworth was home to the famous Brontë family and still holds the parsonage in which they lived.
A short drive away is the lovely spa town of Harrogate which is well known  for its  elegance, shopping facilities and beautiful gardens. Nearby Skipton is known as the Gateway to the Dales and boasts some impressive attractions such as Skipton Castle , its High Street Market and cruises along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.

Other worthwhile visits include the World Heritage Site - Saltaire village, Bingley for the 'Five Rise Locks' on the Leeds Liverpool Canal or simply enjoy a trip to the Yorkshire Dales ice cream parlour and American diner at Halton East. Ilkley has numerous quality dining venues to suit all tastes and pockets.
A few miles away is Grassington where you can see the house used by "James Herriot" in the latest series of "All Creatures Great and Small". There is a lovely cobbled square featuring some of the shops and the pub which were dressed up in character for the series. The Eagle eyed may wish to seek out some of the other filming locations which were used in the series.
